Schema Therapy

Schema Therapy is an evidence-based approach that helps you identify and overcome long-standing emotional patterns that began in childhood and continue to impact your thoughts, behaviours, and relationships as an adult. We all develop “schemas” — core beliefs and emotional themes — based on early experiences and unmet childhood needs. These schemas can become rigid and painful, leading to issues such as low self-worth, anxiety, low mood, perfectionism, or difficulty in relationships.

Schema Therapy combines elements of CBT, attachment theory, and experiential techniques to help you identify these patterns and understand where they come from. It also emphasizes the importance of developing a healthy, nurturing inner voice to enable you to take better care of yourself, make better choices, and improve your emotional wellbeing. I draw on the Schema Therapy model as part of my therapeutic approach.
