Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT is a practical, goal-oriented form of psychotherapy that helps you to understand the connection between your thoughts, feelings, body, and behaviours. It assumes that by identifying and challenging unhelpful thinking and behavioural patterns, you can shift how you feel and make meaningful changes in your life. It is interested in how your difficulties have developed, as well as how they are maintained - which then highlights areas to work on.

You and your therapist work collaboratively to identify specific challenges, uncover thought patterns that may be contributing to distress, and develop healthier ways of thinking and responding. CBT is a practical and structured approach, and will involve exercises or strategies you can apply in daily life.
